Welcome to Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp

What our guests say . . .

"In March 2017 we decided to head up the Kauaeranga Valley for our senior school camp where we stayed at the Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp. We had 70 children and 20 adults. David and Sue, the camp managers, were wonderful hosts. The pre-camp meeting was informative and we were shown around the grounds and facilities. The food was amazing and it was great to be able to have all dietary requirements catered for. Nothing was ever a hassle and they bent over backwards to ensure our stay was enjoyable. The facilities were very clean and well kept and the activities they had at camp were excellent and the children thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The use of the big indoor gym was a lifesaver (due to wet weather). We thoroughly enjoyed our camp and would highly recommend it to anyone, particularly school groups." Netherton School, Waikato, 2017

"KVCC is an awesome experience for groups who aspire to develop team building, improve overall well-being and enhance their appreciation for Thames beautiful environment. One of the most important aspects for us was the respect all staff had towards our religious practices. It was great to see KVCC cater to our Islamic special character by providing a prayer space for us, giving us the food we are allowed to eat and by giving us space to enjoy the grounds on our own without male intervention. This really meant a lot to us all and we appreciate your awesome hospitality. Thank you all so much." Zayed College, 2017

"The KVCC is a fantastic camp that provides a range of authentic, safe and challenging experiences for its campers. Every day our campers were presented with new and fun activities. It is a beautifully maintained camp surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Our students absolutely loved their stay – and didn't want to leave. We were really impressed with how our hosts put our campers first, were so accommodating, well-meaning and friendly – they made sure our stay was one to remember!" Whitikahu School, 2017

A geographical perspective ....

The camp is built on 16 acres of terraced grassland overlooking the Kauaeranga River. It is only 5 kms from the Thames township, it is surrounded by hill-country farms and within easy reach of the acclaimed Pinnacles tramp. The Pinnacles is a 30 minute drive from our camp to the trail base and the Kauaeranga Valley Visitors Centre ( DOC) is only a 10 minute drive up the valley. The camp is also ideally situated for biking along the Hauraki Bike Trail which can be accessed at Kopu, within 10 minutes drive from camp.

Situated at the gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula we are just a short drive from many places of interest including: Coromandel Township, Colville, Whitianga, Whangamata, Waihi, Tairua, Pauanui, Ngatea, Hot Water Beach (Cooks Beach), Hahei and Miranda Hot Springs, to name a few.

A historical perspective .......

In 1975 some dedicated and devoted Christians recognised the impact that the exposure to God's creation could have on people's spiritual wellbeing, especially in such a tranquil and scenic environment, inspiring the mission statement, "To show that God is real to campers as they relax and enjoy His creation in the beautiful Kauaeranga Valley".
